Small Church Communities
A Small Church Community is a group of 8–12 adults, or families, who come together, usually in each others’ homes, at least twice a month for 2 hours or so to share their life experiences and to grow in their faith while getting to know group members. The main components of a Small Church Community are reflection and education, mutual support and caring, prayer and worship, Scripture and service to one another, to the parish and to others. A trained facilitator runs the group. Small communities can form around particular needs or interests (i.e. Contemplative Prayer, Men's Spirituality, Moms with Small Children). A coordinator of small groups is appointed for the parish to help train facilitators and direct newcomers. St. Christopher parish in Marysville, MI has Small Church Communities.
